The fact that this Texas band is so difficult to categorize is exactly what makes them so special and enjoyable. It’s a mashup combination that works extremely well. Their sound is so intense, it frequently sounds like a game of dare among the band members; each provoking the other to push his instrument to its limits. Part of the listening pleasure is experiencing and anticipating what each member will do when his spotlight moment arrives. I’m sure the live experience is even more explosive.
Powerhouse lead singer Darroh Sudderth describes their sound as an attempt to create a happy medium among the diverse styles and genres of music the band members enjoy. That willingness to create the band’s identity through exploration and experimentation is definitely appreciated by this fan.
Fables From a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True is their third studio album and follows their two equally enigmatically-titled previous releases: The Carbon Copy Silver Lining and inter.funda.stifle. Some of the song on Fables are grander-scale reproductions of songs from inter.funda.stifle.
